A&A Ranch is located in the beautiful Sherman mining District 16 miles (26m) from Lake City in the Southwestern part of Colorado in the San Juan Mountains, 46 miles (73 km)  from Gunninson, closer airport (1hr, fly from Denver airport).


    A&A Ranch is at an elevation of 8800 feet (2900m)  in a 40
acres nestles in the pines, cotton woods, crossed by the Lake Fork Gunninson river that goes to the lake San Cristobal, located 10 miles (16 km) north of the A&A Ranch on country road 30. The lake is 80 feet deep and covers an area of about 350 acres, very good area for picnic, fishing and time to relax. There are five 14” ers (mountains over 14,000 feet or 4,620m)  in the immediate Lake City area:  

Sunshine – 14,001 ft

Wetterhorn – 14,015 ft

Red cloud- 14,034 ft

Handies- 14,048 ft

Uncompaghre – 14,309 ft.  

    Lake City is one of Colorado’s Largest Historical District, with a year around population of 350 residents, filled with Victorian homes and 19th century charm with over 75 buildings from the late 1800’s. No doubt that Lake City signed an important stopover for the European migration during the early 1800 when the gold fever was bringing to Lake City and to Sherman Mining District thousands of people from all over the world.

    The Alpine loop is part of the National Scenic Byway System. Travelers and adventuress will be overwhelmed at every turn with splendor and historical significance. From Denver the best and fast way to get Lake City is to take the 285 interstate to 50 interstate, go thru Monarch to Gunninson take 149 to Lake City.  Five hours drive form  Denver to Lake City has to be considered.
